Our high school business plan competition is right around the corner (Oct 15-16)!  

***Changes to our format this year***
Many participants have suggested that the students come more prepared and that we provide feedback for their ideas prior to arriving on campus. Based on that, we are going to make available here an outline of the components of the marketing portion of their plans. (See below.)

    ** We are asking the High School teams to submit the marketing portion to
         us by Oct 1.
 
    Teams interested in competing should download the marketing outline here and submit
     it to us by October 1, 2009.
   
** We will review the plans and provide feedback to the teams by Oct 8.
   

Once the students arrived on campus, we will spend our time with them the first day going through the finance portions of their plans. The teams would then put the entire plan together and make their presentations on the second day.

The focus of the business this year should be ‘A Business You Can Start Now’. Our ultimate goal is to actually get them to start the business!
 

Teams would provide items #1-7 by October 1

1 - Name of Business and Entrepreneurs
2 - Description of Opportunity or Need
3 - Explanation of Business Concept
4 - Market Overview - Potential Size and your Target Market
5 - Industry Overview - Competitors
6  - Your Competitive Advantage
7 -  Your Marketing (growth) Plan

Teams would develop while on campus October 15-16

8 - Your Operational Plan

9 - Your Financial Plan
10- Monthly summarized Income Statement with Assumptions as Needed
11 - Start-up Expenses
12 - Your Pitch - How much money do you need and what does an investor get?
     (Add the Start-up expenses with the working capital needs)
